The coasts are divided into bays Asinara north of Orosei on the east, to the south of Cagliari and Alghero and Oristano to the west. Totaling 1,897 km, are high, with small rocky coves to the north-east in the valleys become deeper and s'incuneano. Low and sandy coasts, sometimes wetlands are situated in areas south and west: they are the coastal ponds, wetlands are important from the ecological point of view.
Many islands and islets surrounding it, and among these the largest is the island of S. Antioco (109 km ²), then follow the Asinara (51 km ²), the island of San Pietro (50 km ²) the island of La Maddalena (20 km ²) Caprera (15 km ²).
