lASER2010 .. The District of mine!

last week, on the waters of Lake Bracciano, was held the 2010 edition of "District Championship Laser "..

.. now .. I imagine that many of those who follow this column will know of Laser, and the rules, at least as far as I knew before the District .. But the week Last week (actually only 3 days) I happened to lend a hand in the water and taking care with the opportunity I was told 2-3 little things, which of course I understood in a biased and unreliable, and then be taken to benefit even more than usual ..

.. basically the only race "Laser" open Zonals are, in fact to participate in the District should be among the first 30 (I think ..) of RL .. the problem is that there are several RL .. that there are at least two: Zonal and National .. and I imagine that there are other supra-national, but have not had the courage, nor the clarity, to investigate ..

.. any way to participate in the District must be made well in RL .. Result: an event to 300 boats.

The cross, that the organization was dependent on the Bracciano Sailing Committee .. otherwise known as Co.Bra .. If the name sounds familiar is because the same issue of Working Committee of Lake Bracciano, which is organizing the " Bracciano Sailing Contest , otherwise known as BSC .. still not clear?
You know the National Snipe this spring in Bracciano, behold, it was "inside" the BSC , organized by Co.Bra ..

I go back to "District Laser : 300 athletes .. divided into Standard, Radial and 4.7 .. charts with divorced men / women (for the last two classes) ..

Moral of the story: a path of 9 boe (concentric trapezoids), line of departure and arrival times separate and different departures: Standard, and then others to follow, divided into fleets "yellow" and " Blue .. Headaches? .. nothing compared to that generated by the attempt to read the "instructions" ..

How was it?
An incredible show .. especially after the first lap, when the fleets, which tended to remain rather compact, began to cross in hard situations .. type fifty boats that had run the last leeward mark to go to the disengagement of slack, where bolinetta back to the pre-arrival, and at least as many, confused by the top 50, who was on that leeward mark had upwind again because they had yet to complete another lap on the stick .. the lake will still be seething!

Not to mention the arrivals, where they decided in the last tacking more often the top 5 ..

Note to heavy snipisti who read these lines: Radial Class in particular is full strategic of bow-snipe-perfect: 50kg, athletic, fierce and competitive .. the problem is that often they are maidens in their prime .. then the heavy-snipisti who read these lines, with jealous wife, can easily forget them .. From the perspective of the organization .. Well?! Honour and respect to Co.Bra: Everest is a small to a committee created with the "Primavela" 3 years ago, and an organizational point of view has been an undisputed success.

Laser class instead reverses the perspective: Force, and the Organizing Committee, roughly, adapts .. which is sacrosanct, since we are not talking about fifty snipe but of 300 athletes, with teams racing around, clubs, federal resources, etc. .. But a bit 'gets the impression!

Now, as those who follow this column know, the Olympic Committee is taking with the ISAF sailing because it makes it easier to discipline and immediate use for the "great" public .. not later than on the merits, as far as I'm concerned the wing, by its nature, is a specialist discipline very strongly, certainly something you can do .. but before doing so we would have to understand "what" we can do, or even what "not" can be do .. The fact is that the IOC contributes 65% of the annual ISAF .. therefore, the ISAF is trying to adapt, and probably is asking to adapt to all the National Federations, of course ..
.. I do not know if it depends on the media success (?) America's Cup, the fact is that more is more match racing is regarded as a kind of panacea .. and for the same sequencer as above it is likely that the same input is also arrived at the Laser Class ..

.. now .. match race I never practiced, I suspect it's funny, at least practice it, especially if you're at bat, because I see it, 99 out of 100, I do only the great sleep ..
